Client Spotlight: 7 For All Mankind

Inspired by innovative denim and united by community, 7 For All Mankind ‘was the first company to bring premium denim to scale, putting L.A. on the map as the fashion authority of the west coast staple.’

Since their start in 2000, 7 For all Mankind, also often referred to as Sevens, has remained a key player in the premium denim industry. We’re excited to partner with their team as they continue to drive change in the world of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, and as they continue to ask the important question, “how can we do better?”.

Emerging Blue 7 For All Mankind

Better For All Mankind

With the belief that every person should have 7 pairs of denim, one for each day of the week, they also believe that sustainability should be a way of life. Sevens has kept their focus on three areas of improvement: materials, manufacturing, and of course, mankind. Their sustainable choices are rooted in their materials. Their team prides themselves on their commitment to source responsible materials from around the world, including recycled yarns, hemp, and more. When it comes to their manufacturing processes, they work with their supply chain partners to best reduce emissions, energy, and water usage. Lastly and potentially their most notable commitment is to their people, to mankind.

Commitment For All Mankind

A favorite among celebrities, fashion editors and stylists, 7 For All Mankind’s denim has become a closet staple for many around the world. Their success, however, can be attributed to more than just their innovative style and fit. 7 For All Mankind’s commitment to social responsibility and goal of making continuous progress towards fair wages and better working conditions is what separates them in the industry. With a belief that people are what make them successful, 7 For All Mankind has a robust social compliance program, built upon their corporate code of conduct, that is dedicated to ensure that their workers, across all aspects of the supply chain, have ‘fair working conditions, are treated with respect and dignity, and are working in safe and secure environments.’

In 2019, 7 For All Mankind joined over 100 other apparel and footwear brands and signed the American Apparel & Footwear Association’s Responsible Recruitment Pledge to ‘address the risk of forced labor in the supply chain.’ In honor of the pledge, 7 For All Mankind has partnered with their global supply chain to create conditions that ensure that ‘no workers pay for their job, they retain control of their travel documents with full freedom of movement, and all workers are informed of the basic terms of their employment before leaving home.’

The Future For All Mankind

We are excited to partner with a company that is as passionate about sustainability and corporate social responsibility as 7 For All Mankind. With over 100 retail locations worldwide, a robust eCommerce business, and availability in luxury and high-end retailers across the globe, 7 For All Mankind is paving the way for sustainable and social responsibility in the fashion supply chain. As they continue their journey and innovations, we’re excited to support the growth of their team. New York Fashion Week Fall '22

Emerging Blue NY Fashion Week Blog

Last week was a busy one for our clients, particularly for those who attended Manhattan’s semi-annual New York Fashion Week. This year’s events showcased a combination of both new and returning trends, including florals, bright yellows and pastels paired with brown, blazers, bustiers, boldly belted waists, and more. We loved watching the spotlight hit new brands who are focused on creating gender-neutral and size-inclusive fashion, like Private Policy, Eckhaus Latta, and Ester Manas. It was also an immense pleasure to support our client, 7 For All Mankind, as they made their first ever debut at NY Fashion Week.

Making Responsible Fashion a Trend: Insight from our Industry Expert

Emerging Blue - Sustainable Fashion

We are so fortunate to have Recruiting Account Director for Fashion, Pooja Sachan, on our EB team. With over 20 years of experience in apparel design, technical design, and product development, we asked Pooja to discuss her perspective on the fashion industry as well as her opinions on sustainable fashion. This is what she had to say:

Be Right with the TIME and you will be right with the TRENDS!

In today’s world where trends and styles change by the second, we all must take some time and think.

What is right for us? What is good for us? Will this be right for our planet and the next generation? Will this be good for our planet and our future generations?

As a mother, I want to let my kids know that life is full of opportunities, and we should make something great out of every experience! Together, we can fight adversity and find the cool, creative, happy side of life, despite the pain of dealing with extreme hardships. I want to tell them not to let our trials and tribulations define us, but to have hope and find beauty!

As a designer, I was fortunate enough to study and work with some of the amazing people in the industry and be inspired to create garments that are beautiful both inside and out. Not just good-looking designs is what makes a brand, but it’s the joy, love, and connection with people and nature that life gives it life!

With my last brand, we aspired to design with a purpose… To make you feel good, do good, & be good.

For 20 years I have continued to work in the industry, and am fortunate to represent and partner with brands that are defining, understanding, and making responsible fashion a trend!

My very first project as a Fashion Recruiting Account Director with Emerging Blue was to work with the Creative Director at Bolt Threads to help him grow his team of designers. As I dug deep to understand the company and their Brand DNA, I grew more and more in love with it!

Bolt Threads is “A BRAND INSPIRED BY NATURE. DESIGNING FOR THE FUTURE.” They are a ‘material solutions company with nature as [their] inspiration.’ and they ‘invent cutting-edge materials for the fashion and beauty industries to put us us on a path toward a more sustainable future.’

‘Through innovative collaborations with world-class brands and supply chain partners,’ Bolt Threads is on a mission to ‘create way better materials for a way better world.’

Their recent collaboration with brands like Stella McCartney, Lululemon, and Adidas makes it very real and available to masses!

I love their vision:

We envision a world where we don’t have to deplete or pollute our forests, oceans, and rivers to benefit from nature’s secrets.
— Bolt Threads

The Rise of Brand Collaborations

Emerging Blue Recruiting Staffing Hiring Jobs Collaborations Blog

With Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, Adidas for Prada Re-Nylon, and hundreds more, you’ve probably noticed that there are more fashion brand collaborations right now than ever before. Collabs have become so explosive because of their ability to inspire new collections outside of brands’ typical styles, therefore introducing them to new audiences.

For some companies, there are full teams designated solely to creating and developing collaborations. Bay Area giant, Levi Strauss and Co., has an entire design and merchandising team dedicated to collaborations, producing approximately 24 collab collections per year! You can check out all of their collaborations here.

In addition to expanding brands’ reach, collaborations create new energy within brands. Using celebrities and influencers is a common strategy that helps these collabs better target their consumers and create interest at the celebrity level. Check out this brand new Levi’s collaboration with Naomi Osaka, Japanese tennis player, that just dropped a few weeks ago – right at the time of Wimbledon!

When it comes to the job market, collaborations create many new opportunities for jobs. Collabs require a unique, niche set of skills. By widening brands’ reach to new customers, designers, and creatives, collaborations create more opportunity for diversity and inclusiveness in fashion.
