We are seeking an Assistant Merchandiser for our client, Janie & Jack, a premier children's clothing company in San Francisco. The Assistant Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the seasonal product development process for the assigned brand and product category. Working closely with the Merchandise Manager, the Assistant Merchandiser will provide critical reporting and analysis as it relates to current business objectives and will participate in the development and execution of different product groups. This person will perform in-season and hindsight analysis of selling trends by department and line as well as by classification, including size, color, silhouette, fashion, basics, hot/cold climates, and regional recaps.
As appropriate, the Assistant Merchandiser may be assigned classification responsibility for forecasting, selling, and preliminary unit planning. This individual will be responsible for completing and maintaining buy plans. This person will work with Momentis in managing product lines and will work closely with Production partners as necessary. The Assistant Merchandiser will work with the Merchandise Manager to perform competitive shopping analysis as well as update and maintain seasonal competitive shopping reports. They will perform ad hoc analysis as requested by classification, style, size and region.
The Assistant Merchandiser will work closely with the Merchandise Manager to select product and provide specific information for the website and other marketing vehicles (i.e. ad campaigns). This person will be responsible for participating in store communications as necessary, providing product information and helping to resolve issues. The Assistant Merchandiser is fully responsible for sample management and keeping files in order.
BA/BS degree required with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on merchandising experience
Possess strong analytical skills as well as a strong proficiency working with numbers
Have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, coupled with strong organizational skills
Have the ability to follow projects/tasks to completion
PC skills required; including experience with Word and Excel applications specifically
Must enjoy working in a fast paced, dynamic environment and must have the ability to work with all levels within the organization
