We’re searching for a Technical Designer, Apparel to work with our favorite Yoga friends, Manduka, in El Segundo, CA! This temporary assignment is needed to support the FW19 season.
Growing high-performance and innovative athletic product company is seeking a Technical Designer for our new apparel line that will work with design and product development teams to develop fit from the initial stages through to production, including working from the initial design sketch through preparation of construction specs and the development of detailed technical fit packages.
This position requires experience with pattern making and garment construction. You must demonstrate the ability to conduct fittings on live models as well as on fit forms. You will need to clearly and concisely communicate through technical sketches, patterns, samples and garment specifications. You will be responsible for resolving fit issues, to conduct fit sessions while providing insight, feedback and resolution to the design and product teams.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop complete Tech packs with detailed specifications, fabrications, and technical drawings from Designer’s initial sketch
Review prototypes for quality, execution, and fit, and provide information to factories in order to make necessary changes clear and organized
Work closely with Product team to develop the fit and specifications for samples
Establish body blocks and fit specifications
Manage fitting process by making appropriate fit/construction adjustments and communicating changes to internal teams and vendors
5+ years’ experience in activewear apparel or technical design/development
Knowledge of garment construction, textiles, fabrics, and technical packs
Must be able to determine and execute proper fit
Experience with sports lifestyle or technical apparel required
Ability to work on men’s and women’s apparel
Must have excellent attention to detail skills in planning, organization and execution
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
Must thrive in a start-up environment
Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Excel & Outlook
· A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, in performance apparel knitwear or swimwear preferred
· 5+ years of experience within performance apparel industry, 8+ years of experience in other apparel categories
