The Athletic Apparel Designer is an experienced creative designer that is on the forefront of trends and understands millennials’ style demands and trends. S/he is skilled with construction, fit and sew techniques, as well as working with many different activewear textiles.
This position is based out of their Ft. Lauderdale office.
Exceptional ability to apply and perform design skills, including drawing, sketching, concept ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing and scale, visual presentation development and layout that is supported by computer based graphic design.
Comprehensive understanding of garment construction, cut and sew, fabrications, styling, trims, textiles sciences, graphic art, and demonstrate the ability to apply these skills in innovative ways that elevate product excellence. These designs must be produced with a deep knowledge of product components, costing, target margins, and required FOB’s.
Highly experienced in athletic fashion industry with proven ability to incorporate trend research and future seasonal fabrics, colors, trim, fit, and body design into collections.
Accustomed to working in a rapidly changing, high growth environment.
Design apparel that is competitive, unique, and innovative and upholds the company’s culture and attitude.
Create seasonal concept boards illustrating theme, trend, color, styling, and fabric direction.
Attend key account meetings.
Travel as needed.
4+ years of related or similar professional experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Design (apparel), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Display passion and motivation for activewear and athletic lifestyle.
High level of Proficiency in In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and design applications.
Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
High level problem solving and decision-making ability.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Extremely strong knowledge of formulating color palettes.
Extremely strong knowledge and understanding of apparel construction.
Extremely strong knowledge of aesthetic form and the ability to design for different consumers and end uses.
