Brand Enforcement Paralegal : Costa Mesa, CA : Temporary

Our client in the Action Sports industry is seeking a junior to mid-level brand enforcement paralegal to join its Legal Department for a 3-6 month project. Not a remote opportunity.

 How You Will Make a Difference:

  1. Main legal point of contact for global enforcement efforts related to grey market, diverted and transshipped products

  2. Track all matters and associated communication

  3. Monitor and lead investigations on diverted products and unauthorized sellers

  4. Oversee vendors involved in investigating and taking down diverted product online

  5. Lead enforcement efforts against grey market and unauthorized sellers

  6. Establish and enforce anti-diversion and anti-transshipping policies and processes for authorized dealers

  7.  Assist with the development of reports and presentations with regards to processes, policies and enforcement efforts

  8. Work closely with cross functional team that includes legal, sales, operations and production to effectively combat diversion

  9. For contracts related to sales and enforcement function, enforce contracts process, help draft and amend contracts as appropriate, ensure execution of contracts, and update and maintain company’s contract files.

  10. Assist with other matters as needed, including special projects related to updating policies and contract forms and other brand enforcement activities, including related to counterfeits.

  11. Manage filing and records maintenance related to job duties.

 

Skills for Success:

Years of Related Professional Experience: 3-5+ years

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • At least three to five years of experience in brand enforcement in a law firm, investigative firm or law department; corporate experience preferred.

  • College degree and paralegal degree/certificate required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of intellectual property and brand enforcement, diversion experience a plus

  • Solid interpersonal and teamwork skills

  • Must be able to manage client’s expectations in a demanding environment

  • Must be independent and self-motivated and driven to deliver results

  • Knowledge of WebTMS or similar file management portal

  • Experience enforcing and/or drafting contracts and polices related to sales a plus

  • Solid written and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment

  • Flexibility and positive attitude

  • Desire to learn and develop new skills

  • Computer word processing, database and spreadsheet skills 

 Special Physical and/or Mental Requirements:

  • Travel by air and overnight, as required 10% amount of time.

  • Lifting and/or bending 20 lbs of weight.
