Our client in the Action Sports industry is looking for a temporary Footwear Designer. As the temporary Footwear Designer, you will design new footwear designs, graphics, color and materialize seasonal collections and partner with Product Development on creating footwear products. You will produce a high level of output typically consisting of 3 – 6 new footwear concept and 10 – 15 color collections per season Spring/Summer, Fall and Holiday. You will interact regularly with various category Design, Development, Merchandising, Marketing and Sales departments in order to gather ideas and create innovative products.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Utilizes merchandise briefs to create footwear concepts and collections.

  2. Sketches and renders footwear ideas and design seasonal graphics.

  3. Creates SMU’s (Special Make Up) colors, styles, and footwear re-colors.

  4. Analyzes and evaluates other designs and advises courteously.

  5. Executes footwear designs, seasonal color CADS and creates a footwear techpack.

  6. Partners with Footwear Development team to create innovative designs and solutions.

  7. Researches color and style trend analysis and communicates to Product Development team via samples, trend boards, etc.

  8. Responsible for selecting materials and defining/executing color strategy.

Years of Related Professional Experience: 0-2

Educational/ Position Requirements:

  • Footwear or Apparel design experience or an equivalent combination of technical experience and training

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from a four-year college or 0-2 years of related experience and/or training (Degree in Industrial or Fashion Design preferred)

Skills:

  • Proficient with computer design software (i.e. Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop)

  • Proficient with business computer software (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint; Apple Keynote)

  • Additional computer design software knowledge a plus (i.e. Solidworks, Alias, Rhino and other design software)

  • Professional presentation skills

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret product design briefs

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with other design, development and merchandise staff, employees and the general public

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Excellent problem solving skills
