Director of Hard Goods (Fitness) : El Segundo, CA : Full-Time

We’re looking for a talented Director of Hard Goods to be the brand captain on every aspect of the hard goods line. You’re charged with ownership of building the market, creation and execution of business plans while achieving seasonal sales, margin goals and calendar adherence, working closely with cross-functional teams. In this role, you’ll own relevant business information on the consumer and competition, assist the VP of Product in identifying trends, business strategy plans and analysis while working with Marketing to bring the product to market and drive demand. By being fully engaged in the yoga community, you’re passionate about bringing innovative product to market for the core practitioner.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead in activating the seasonal merchandising strategies aligned with long and short- range plans, revenue and margin targets and brand goals
  • Manage the product line life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities
  • Manages SKU efficiency to targeted goals
  • Responsible for all financial line plans for area of responsibility including achieving profit margin goals
  • Partner with Demand Planning to build seasonal forecasts connected to merchandising strategies and financial goals
  • Write executable seasonal product briefs targeting opportunity and competitive set
  • Strategic in identifying the product and market “white space”
  • Presents product information to key internal and external groups in a comprehensive, clear and tactical manner. Comes armed with research, data points and preparedness on category lines.
  • Drives best processes and maintains seasonal development and production calendar
  • Partners with Marketing and Sales teams to drive and develop category initiative for selling and marketing tools
  • Partners with sales, retail customers and end users to ensure that new product development meets the market needs
  • Partners with International and European business leads to ensure the international consumer, market and product needs are met
  • Accountable for bringing to market innovative, technical products that drive sales to meet company financial goals
  • Provides leadership to the hard goods product team, and manages independent contractors, budget and timelines
  • Examines, reports and tracks success and failure of the company’s products on the marketplace and determine reasons for success/failure


  • Must be detailed oriented but able to present the bigger picture
  • Influential in building positive partnerships with cross functional teams
  • Excellent communicator and presentation skills
  • Extensive knowledge of the yoga product market and related businesses
  • Ability to work with others as part of cross-functional team, build consensus and achieve results across a variety of distinct groups
  • Strong retail math and ability to build seasonal merchandising plans
  • Forward thinking and strategic skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and calendars


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, apparel or related field
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • International manufacturing experience
  • Proven ability to manage a team
  • Strong working knowledge of computer programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Illustrator, Photoshop
